Explore Regional Potential, West Java - Aceh Sign Cooperation in 12 Sectors

Banda Aceh- The Government of West Java and Government of Aceh is cooperating in developing regional potential and improving public services

This cooperation is contained in a memorandum of understanding signed by the Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil and the Governor of Aceh Nova Iriansyah, at the Aceh Tsunami Museum, Banda Aceh City, Sunday (12/26/2021).

Ridwan Kamil revealed that there were 12 sectors of cooperation that were agreed upon. All of them are more focused on improving the economy as the COVID-19 subsides and the moment of economic revival.

"Now is the time to increase the level of cooperation more with the economy as COVID-19 has receded and the economy must rise," he said.

One of the most concrete of the 12 collaborations is obtaining regional rights to energy management. The governor said energy management aims to improve the welfare of the Acehnese people. Moreover, Ridwan Kamil is the chairman of the Association of Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy Producing Regions (ADPMET).

"What is concrete in front of our eyes is cooperation to get regional rights to energy management, which has enormous potential which will be directly proportional to the welfare of the Acehnese people," said Ridwan Kamil.

Regarding the energy cooperation, two regionally-owned enterprises, namely PT Migas Hulu Jabar (Perseroda) and PT Pembangunan Aceh (Aceh-Owned Enterprises) were involved to follow up.

In addition to the cooperation that has been stated in the memorandum of agreement, Kang Emil also offers other potential collaborations. According to him, West Java with a population of almost 50 million people is a big market if used properly. Such as investment in the tourism sector, which will also have an impact on the people of West Java.

"Earlier I also offered what Aceh could cooperate with. Our population is very large, meaning that the market is large, and vice versa, is there any investment potential in Aceh that we can cooperate with," he said.

Aceh Governor Nova Iriansyah welcomed this collaboration. Nova said that this inter-provincial collaboration was the first time the Aceh Provincial Government had conducted it.

"This is the first inter-provincial collaboration, namely with West Java," Nova said.

Nevertheless, West Java and Aceh have had good relations for a long time and have various similarities. "Actually, our relationship has been around for a long time because we have a lot in common with West Java from the past," he said.

Nova revealed that currently Aceh is trying to achieve energy sovereignty which needs input from West Java. He had previously sent PT Pembangunan Aceh to Bandung to meet with PT Migas Hulu Jabar. From that meeting several opportunities were found.

"Aceh is trying to achieve its energy sovereignty, of course we have to learn a lot from West Java," said Nova.

In addition to cooperation in the energy sector, a regional bank owned by the Aceh Provincial Government, namely the Bank Syariah Aceh, will also study financial management and human resources at Bank BJB. Nova said Bank BJB is the largest regional bank in Indonesia with assets of more than 100 trillion Rupiah.

"Bank Syariah Aceh will learn a lot from Bank BJB as the largest regional bank in Indonesia whose assets are very different from Aceh," he said.

He hopes that this whole cooperation will be mutually beneficial for both regions and most importantly, will bring benefits to the community.

"Hopefully this cooperation will be mutually beneficial so that it will benefit our next generation and continue their struggle," said Nova.
